I can easily say music has been a part of my life since before I could talk. I remember when I was no older than 3 or 4 and bouncing in my car seat to the songs playing on the radio while I sang at the top of my lungs. One of the songs I passionately screamed was Man of God by Audio Adrenaline. (And yes, I screamed that I was a “man of God” but I was little and didn’t feel the need to change it) I loved singing so much that I was in the children’s choir every year at my church and was involved in any church play or musical we put on.

I grew up shadowing the same type of music my sister and family liked. When I first heard Thousand Foot Krutch I started developing my own style and taste in music and later on learned that it’s okay and good to have your own style instead of just following what everybody else does (just as long as it brings glory to God). That has been rooted deep in my faith. To this day, I am not ashamed to be different from the rest of the world and I embrace the special gifts I have been blessed with, using them to bring people closer to Christ.

When I was about 12, I had the desire to go into acting. I still had the passion for music but felt I wasn’t good enough to share it with others. Until one night, I was sitting on my bed and I was looking at my guitar pick that had Romans 10:13 etched on it. “For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” Inspired by just one simple idea, I wrote my first song, striking the match to the passion inside of me. After I wrote it, I played it for hours. The joy I received from it was indescribable. It was then I knew acting was not the path for me and that God had gifted me with music. At age 15, I started learning the bass and I knew that it was the instrument I wanted to master.

Over my teenage years, I continued to write songs and would occasionally play one in church. It wasn’t until I was about 20 that I realized I loved to write. That’s when I decided to encourage people to stay strong in their faith when tragedy strikes by writing a book series. The first book is called The Unbreakable.

Besides juggling the band, my book series and a part time job. I also serve at my church by playing bass in Sunday morning worship. I lead worship for Awana on Wednesday night and co-lead along with my sister Allison for mid-week worship at Paradigm.

I have seen God’s hand working in my life since we started Crimson Letters. There have been challenges but I have learned to just trust God and He will take care of the rest. It has been an amazing journey so far and I am stoked to see what else God has planned!
